| The Contemporary Art Society’s Annual Selling Exhibition | ||||||||||||||||||
| 8 - 14 March 2007 | ||||||||||||||||||
This annual exhibition is a campaigning project, intended to encourage new patrons of contemporary art. Featuring the work of approximately 130 artists, ARTfutures offers a snapshot of visual arts practice around the UK today. |
||||||||||||||||||
The selection embraces a wide variety of media - painting, sculpture, film, video, sound, and works on paper - drawn from the entire spectrum of the artistic profession, from artists who have recently graduated to those who have gained substantial reputations. |
||||||||||||||||||
Over the years ARTfutures has shown work by emerging artists who have subsequently achieved high profiles, including future Turner Prize Winners. Of the 1000 works in the show most will have been created during the last two years and will be sold for between £500 and £5,000. The show is selected by invitation, and where possible each individual work is chosen by the curatorial team. Independent curator and writer Jeni Walwin leads the selection. She is supported in this work by two Contemporary Art Society curators – Nour Wali and Ceri Lewis – who together press for a selection that is both rigorously contemporary and realistically priced. |
