New Art on View

It reflects on the value and importance of collecting contemporary art for public collections, and the CAS’s history of supporting museums and galleries across the country. National Collecting Scheme for Scotland

Image courtesy the artist The National Collecting Scheme for Scotland (NCSS) was a major initiative supported with funds from the National Lottery through the Scottish Arts Council, where CAS worked in partnership with six Scottish museums to support the purchase of challenging works of visual and applied art. National Collecting Scheme for Scotland Commissions
image © Joanne Tatham & Tom O’Sullivan, “Rhetoric Works & Vanity Works & Other Works”, 2006 The six partner museums involved in the NCSS commissioned two new works for their collections from Scottish-based artists and makers, through additional National Lottery funding from the Scottish Arts Council. The NCSS museums collaborated to commission Glasgow-based artists Joanne Tatham & Tom O’Sullivan to create a substantial and ambitious new work of art for Scotland. Aberdeen Art Gallery and Museum invited silversmith John Creed to undertake a commission for their esteemed craft collection. For further information click here
